Elizabeth Soles Callaham, 103, went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 6, 2025.

Elizabeth was born in Gloucester County and moved to Yorktown with her family at the age of four. She graduated from Poquoson High School when it was the only high school in York County. She was employed at the Naval Weapons Station where she later retired.

She was a lifelong member of Crooks Memorial United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Bible School. She served on many committees and was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Alter Guild. She worked in many capacities to raise money for missions and the church building fund. She and her husband were active members of the Gideons for several years.

Elizabeth was married in 1942 to Joseph W. Callaham, a US Marine. They enjoyed 66 wonderful years together before he went to be with the Lord in 2008. Now they will be reunited in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Elizabeth is also preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Alice Soles; her daughter, Martha “Cookie” Callaham Belvin; her brother, John Soles; her sisters, Dana Deal and Lucy Riggins; four nephews, a niece and a great niece. She is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann Callaham Ward, (Mike); grandson, Jason C. Ward, (Beth); great-grandson Max; step-grandson, Bob Belvin, (Maribeth) and their children; an estranged granddauther and her family; one niece; eleven great nieces and nephews; her faithful and kind caregivers and the exceptional Hospice nurses; many other family members and friends.

Elizabeth was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved the Lord, her family, and friends. She will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at Amory Funeral Home, Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 2:00. Reverand Edwin Clever (great nephew) will conduct the service. Burial will be private.
