Michael L. Ryan, 77, went to be with the Lord, peacefully, at home on January 26, 2025, with family by his side.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Crider Ryan; his father, Arthur L. Ryan; and a brother, Paul B. Reynolds.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Brenda C. Ryan; two daughters, Amy R. Craig, and Sally A. Ryan; four grandchildren, Kailyn Ryan (Brandon), Ethan, Grayson, and Ryan Craig; one great-grandchild, Sawyer Ryan; and a sister, Ethel R. Spady (George).
Mike had a strong Christian faith and was an active member of Lower King and Queen Baptist Church, Mascot, VA. He was drafted into the Army in 1968 and sent to fight in the jungles of Vietnam. He was in the 101st Airborne Division. After Vietnam, Mike worked in the Newport News Shipyard and then owned Economy Insulating Company in Hampton, VA. Later, he drove a big rig for Anheuser Busch. Mike loved deer hunting and fishing. He was a life member of Laf-a-Lot Rod and Gun Club. He had many good friends and enjoyed hunting on his own property.
Mike was a kind and generous person and a loving father and grandfather.
A funeral service will be held 1PM Friday, January 31, 2025, at Lower King and Queen Baptist Church, 204 Timber Branch Road, Mascot, VA 23108. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
