Margy Yando, born on July 22, 1929, in New York, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2024, in Williamsburg, Virginia, at the age of 95. A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Margy lived a life full of kindness, creativity, and joy.
Margy worked as a sales clerk at Macy’s and participated in the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Margy was an avid crafter of beautiful yarn projects, especially socks, which she gifted to family and friends. She loved travel and the excitement of casino visits.
She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Church of Crescent, New York. Margy drew strength from her faith throughout her life.
Margy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Yando, her parents, one brother, four sisters, and one great-granddaughter. She is survived by her loving daughters: Michele (Geary) Fetsko, Julie (Jim) Kennedy, Annette Lewis, Yvonne Bilodeau, and Carolle Yando; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and two foster great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waterford, New York, where Margy will be laid to rest alongside her husband.
