Margie C. Trombley, 80, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024, with her loving son by her side just three days after her 80th birthday.

Born on November 8,1944, in Norfolk, VA, to the late Letcher M. Cummings, Sr. and Florence M. Cummings, Margie lived a life defined by resilience, unwavering faith, and boundless love.

A 1962 graduate of Maury High School , Margie played the flute in the marching band and carried her passion for music throughout her life. Despite losing her sight, she faced life’s challenges with extraordinary strength. She was a devoted homemaker, Margie raised her son and created a home filled with love and faith. Margie refused to let her blindness define her. Instead, she demonstrated that with determination and trust in God, anything is possible.

Margie found strength and community as a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk. She sang with the Young at Heart Choir, participated in the Conquerors Sunday School Class, and uplifted others with her beautiful voice and steadfast devotion. Even without physical sight, Margie had an unmatched ability to see life’s blessings, encouraging all who crossed her path.

Her life was rich with joy and love. She cherished outings to the movie theater, where she reveled in the art of storytelling. She also shared a love of golf with her late husband of 52 years, Morland L. Trombley. Her appreciation for music spanned genres, reflecting her vibrant and open spirit.

In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Morland; and her three brothers, Letcher M. Cummings, Jr., R. Gerald Cummings, and Mark S. Cummings.

She is survived by her loving son, Jeffrey W. Trombley, and his wife, Erin O’Rourke; her sisters, Sandra C. Falls and Dale C. Watson; her sister-in-law, Geraldine C. Jackman; and many loving nieces and nephews who adored her. Margie also leaves behind dear friends who were a constant source of support and encouragement, sharing in and uplifting her vibrant, active lifestyle.

Margie’s life is a testament to the power of perseverance and faith. She turned adversity into opportunity, demonstrating that challenges can be overcome with grace and determination. Her legacy will inspire generations to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind, honoring Margie’s lifelong courage and her commitment to inspiring others.

Margie’s light will forever shine in the hearts of those who loved her. She is now reunited with her Savior, her family, and the eternal peace she so faithfully trusted in.
