Dr. Timothy Dale Norton, Ed. D., passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of dedication to education, family, and faith.
He was born to Vernon and Sybil Norton on September 23, 1955. A tenured professor in the Graduate School of Education, Dr. Norton was passionate about helping students reach their highest potential. His academic journey was remarkable, earning a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) and Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) in Educational Administration from The College of William and Mary, a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Regent University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Oral Roberts University.
Dr. Norton was also deeply committed to his community, serving as the Director of the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Tidewater, where he provided compassionate support to individuals and families in challenging circumstances. Additionally, he was the Director of the Music Department at Rock Church, bringing people together through the gift of music and worship.
In his book, Alzheimer’s: My New Life Begins, Dr. Norton courageously shared his experiences in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, offering hope and insight to others facing similar journeys.
In addition to being predeceased by his parents, Dr. Norton was also preceded in death by his sister, Tonya.
Dr. Norton is survived by his beloved children, Timothy Norton II and his wife Molly, and Anne and her husband Marvin Parker. He was a proud grandfather to Jazmine Parker, Matthew Parker, Joshua Parker, Mackenzie Norton, Liam Norton, and Keegan Norton. His memory will also be cherished by his siblings, Gary and Barbara Norton, and Sheri and Arthur King, along with extended family and countless friends and colleagues who were inspired by his warmth, wisdom, and strength.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 from 9:00-11:00am at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, followed by a burial at 1:00pm at Rosewood Memorial Park. A reception will be held following the burial at Altmeyer Funeral Home.
