Charles Easter Marcotte, of Newport News, VA, passed away on August 16, 2024, at the age of 83. He was a beloved partner, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose life was filled with family, work, and many interests.
Born on December 23, 1940, Charles was the only child of Francis Arthur Marcotte and Marion Lillian Easter Marcotte. From a young age, Charles demonstrated a keen interest in anything mechanical and a natural aptitude for sales. He began by servicing cars in his parents’ garage, where he quickly developed a loyal following of customers. This passion led him to establish Marcotte Volk Service, an automotive repair and sales business in Exeter, NH. His success caught the attention of Volkswagen of America, and in December 1970, he opened a dealership in Claremont, New Hampshire, Marcotte Volkswagen.
Charles later relocated to Virginia, where he explored real estate before returning to his true passion, the automotive industry. In 1995, he and his son Charles F. Marcotte started American Pride Automotive, continuing his legacy in the automotive world.
Charles had a deep love for all things mechanical, especially classic cars, and took great joy in time spent on the open road in his cherished Buick Wildcat. He was also passionate about dogs, gardening, wildlife, and reading. Charles was a proud 32nd-degree Mason.
He is survived by his devoted life partner, Brenda Senski, his first wife and mother of his four children, Martha H. Waite, and his children: Charlene Lovett and her husband Robert (Claremont, NH), Suzanne Hawley and her husband Cameron (Charlottesville, VA), Charles Marcotte and his wife Diane (Williamsburg, VA), and Janette Coombs and her husband Alex (Claremont, NH). He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Claremont, NH.
