Frank Brown, 92, of New Kent

Frank Brown (Whiting’s Funeral Home)

On Thursday, August 8, 2024, our beloved Frank Ray Brown went home to be with the Lord. He was born on October 15, 1931, to the late Ralph Brown and Nellie Randall. He and his one sister, Maggie Sutherlin, were raised in New Kent County, Virginia.

Frank was united in holy matrimony to the former Annie Teresa Jones. This union was blessed with two sons, Frank Brown Jr. and Tony Brown. They enjoyed sixty-four years of marital bliss until Annie’s transition on October 23, 2023.

At an early age, Frank joined New Elam Baptist Church in New Kent, VA and later joined Angel View Baptist Church along with his wife Ann. He served as a trustee and on various committees.

Frank was educated in the New Kent County Public School System. In 1968, he relocated to Toano, VA where they built their first home. Frank worked at Cheathem Annex for a brief period until accepting employment with the Army Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES), Fort Eustis, VA, where he retired after twenty-five years of service. He later returned to work for eighteen years at the Williamsburg Landing Retirement Community.

Frank was a quiet man who had an affectionate smile that would brighten your day. He loved yard work and gardening and kept an immaculate yard. He enjoyed traveling with his wife. They visited his son while serving on active duty with the U.S. Army in Germany, Georgia, and North Carolina. He also enjoyed cruising. Frank was an awesome husband and father. He loved his family dearly.

He is preceded in death by his son Frank Brown Jr.; wife Annie Brown; and sister Maggie Sutherlin.

Precious memories will forever remain with his devoted and dedicated son Tony Brown and devoted daughter-in-law Elaine; a bonus son Dr. Morris L. Randall Sr.; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at noon on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Mr. Brown may be viewed on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. until the hour of his service in the funeral home.
