Austin Lynn Shaw of Williamsburg, VA passed away on August 4, 2024 at the age of 30. Born on December 15, 1993 in Westlake, OH, he was a cherished son of Gregory and Vicky Shaw, and the loving brother of Tyler Shaw.
Austin was employed as the Chief Financial Officer at Shaw Construction, Corp. as well as other related entities. Prior to this, he worked at Ferguson Enterprises where he gained his vast knowledge of the corporate world.
During his high school years, he had his own lawn care service where he gained his reputation as being reliable, hardworking and beloved by his clients and neighbors. He also earned his Eagle Scout and was a member of the Williamsburg Community Chapel Youth Program. At the Chapel he went on mission trips where he touched the hearts of many as well as his own. After high school, he attended Christopher Newport University as a Finance Major. This is where he developed an acute interest in finance and all things business. He was a member of the CNU Investment Club and he continued his faith journey as a Young Life leader. He earned his BSA in Finance in 2016 and went on to attend the MBA Graduate Program at William and Mary.
Austin’s personal interests included outdoor activities such as skiing, kayaking and fishing. He was an avid car enthusiast and attended car shows regularly with his friends. He had a love for animals, especially his family dogs. Known for his kind heart, quick wit and infectious smile, Austin left a lasting impact on everyone he knew. He never met a stranger.
Austin was preceded in death by his great grandparents only. He leaves behind a loving family; his parents, Greg and Vicky Shaw; his brother, Tyler, and his wife, Joanne; his grandparents, Lyle and Janice Shaw, Barbara Philbrick, and Keith and Cathy Baker; his uncles and aunts, John David and Christine Cowart, Ken Baker, James and Tammy Roerig, Bert and Lydia Baker; as well as numerous cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
A service to celebrate Austin’s life will be held Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 2 p.m. at the Williamsburg Community Chapel, located in Williamsburg, VA. A reception will follow the service in the foyer of the church. The service will be live streamed and recorded for those unable to attend.
Austin’s legacy of kindness, passion and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
In appreciation of his brother’s military service and all others who have served, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, any donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Austin’s name.
