Constance (Connie) June Jones went to her eternal home in heaven on May 17th.
She was born in Hopewell, VA to Joseph Holland Howlett and Ruth Upton Howlett on December 21, 1931. She went to school in Norfolk, VA and later attended Tidewater Community College. She married Harlen B. Jones on June 15th ,1959 in Elizabeth City, NC.
No stranger to hard work, as a young woman Constance worked at the beloved and historical Doumar’s Cones and Barbecue restaurant in Norfolk. She was a clerk at McCoy Pharmacy in Virginia Beach, a cashier at NAS Oceana Commissary, and a Greeting Card Merchandiser with American Greetings.
Constance is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harlen Jones, and siblings Harvey Howlett, Dot Ryder, Jack Howlett, Peggy Brown, and Doug Howlett.
She is survived by her son Clarence Lawrence Jr., daughters Carolyn McClure (Rick), Sherry Carlson (Marty), and Lisa Netter (Henry). Sisters Barbara Newell (John), Joyce Wilson (David), and sister in law Theresa Howlett, grandchildren Angela Fischer (Gary), Mindy Ellis (Josh), Marty Carlson (Kristen), Henry Carlson, Chloe Carlson (Devin), Henry Netter IV, and Greyson Netter as well as five great grandchildren.
To our Mother we thank you for your love in abundance and a legacy of strength. Your memory is a treasure always in our heart. We love and miss you dearly.
A graveside service will be held at Albert G. Horton Memorial Veteran’s Cemetery in Suffolk on June 4th 2024 at 11:00am.
