In loving memory of Diane Olivia Dennis, cherished daughter, sister, aunt and friend, who was born on June 1, 1965 in Coronado, CA and passed away March 17, 2024 in Suffolk, VA.
Diane’s unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was the bedrock of her life. It was a beacon to us, her friends and family. Diane gives “special thanks to people whom God used to shape me: The Navigators at ODU, Partners’ Lodge, Southside Baptist, Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church, and Crosswater Presbyterian Church. I will see you all in a mansion next to mine.” She lived her faith which inspired her “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” To her sisters in Christ, Gail and Laura and all in between, we are profoundly grateful for your blessings to Diane from the beginning to the end.
Diane was an alumna of Frank W. Cox High School and Old Dominion University. She was a standout high school and college athlete and coach, and passed that passion on to her players and students. She retired from Portsmouth Public Schools where she taught and coached.
Diane was predeceased by her father David and her grandparents. She is survived by her mother Martha, her brother Stephen (Paulette), her sister Susan Stone (George), nephew David (Lauren), grand-nephew William, niece Emily Bower (Billy), and a multitude of loving, supportive friends including the Journey Group and her Crosswater family.
Diane’s life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday March 22, 2024, at Crosswater Presbyterian Church that meets in StoneBridge School, 1629 Jolliff Road, Chesapeake. Donations in Diane’s memory can be made to the Crosswater Presbyterian Church Deacons’ Fund.
