Mr. George Washington was born on July 17, 1946, the son of the late Phil Martin Jr. and Elnora Washington Martin, of Williamsburg, Virginia. He completed his earthly journey on Sunday, January 14, 2024, in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in Washington DC.
At an early age, George developed a strong relationship with God. He was a member of Grafton Baptist Church – Harris Grove, where he sang with the Choir and was an active member until his health prevented him from attending.
George graduated from James Weldon Johnson School in 1964, where he played football. He then started a career with the United States Air Force, retiring after more than twenty years of service. Upon returning home, he was employed and retired from the School of the Deaf and the Blind, in Hampton, Virginia.
George was a fifth-degree Mason. He was also an avid golf player and loved to dance and enjoy good food. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Borum Washington. He is survived by his son, Randall Washington; grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
