Craig Edwin Jones, 61, of Toano

On Friday, February 2, 2024. our beloved Craig Edwin Jones, answered the Master’s call to eternal rest. He was born on February 22, 1962, the son of Jean Elizabeth Jones and the late Trible Lee Jones, Jr., of Toano, Virginia.

Craig accepted Christ as his personal Savior early in life and recently rededicated his life to Christ. He graduated from Lafayette High School, afterwhich he pursued a military career in the United States Marine Corps for thirteen years. Craig’s dedication to serving his country in the United States Marine Corps is a testament to his bravery and commitment to improving the world.

He also was employed with the Williamsburg-James City County public school system for many years. This job allowed him to make an impact on the students as well as in the community. Craig was a loving son, father, grandfather, and brother. He took pride in his family, especially his daughters, LaTorya and Michelle, and his one and only grandson Amauri Jenkins, and his beloved companion Evelyn Ruttley. He also loved his nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Craig was preceded in death by his wife Gail Jones; father Trible Lee Jones Jr.; maternal grandparents, Douglas and Dorothy Richardson; paternal grandparents, Carrie Jones Wallace and Trible Lee Jones Sr; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Lauretta Piggott. His memories and legacy will forever live on in his children, LaTorya Jones and Michelle Jones, both of Toano, VA; grandson, Amauri Jenkins of Toano, VA; mother, Jean E. Jones of Toano, VA; sisters, Pastor Stephanie L. Pelham (Nathaniel) of Georgia, Sharon Jones of Toano, VA, and Allison Albert of Newport News, VA; brother, Trible Lee Jones Jr. of Augusta, VA; special friends, Ernest Bassett, Robert Lee, Willie Matthews, and Linda Hawkins; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
