Edward C. Tate, 58, of West Point, VA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
After high school, Eddie went into the Military where he served this country in the Army. Upon his honorable discharge, Eddie began a life and started a family of his own. He did some carpentry work here and there but found his career at the West Point Paper Mill for 32 dedicated years. Even though he worked on the ever-changing shift schedule, he did his best to make time for his son Kenny. He loved Kenny and supported him in all aspects of his life. Of course, that love only grew with the birth of his two grandchildren, and the proud new title of “Pap Pap.”
Eddie was an outgoing man who enjoyed life and never met a stranger. He loved to laugh and make you laugh. He enjoyed hanging with his friends and golfing. You could always find a sports game of some sorts on his TV at any given time. Football, baseball, college or professional, Eddie was watching and hoping for a great match. He used to love NASCAR, back in the good days of Rusty Wallace. One of the things he enjoyed most was his labs, sitting at his feet. His friendly spirit will be missed by all who know him. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Viginia Tate.
Eddie is survived by his son, Kenny Tate (Latrisha); brothers, Donnie Tate, and Wilbur Tate (Sandy); grandchildren, Aspen and Gryffin; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
To honor Eddie’s life, the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181.
