Deborah Lee Fancher Matthews, 74, also known as Debbie from Roadway and more recently DeeDee, passed away peacefully in her home in the care of her husband of 40 years, Tommy (70) and their dog Brody.
She was born August 23, 1949 at Portsmouth Naval Hospital to the late Lonnie Lee Fancher and Mary Jane Nation Fancher.
After traveling with the Navy, her family settled in Virginia Beach in Aragona; she graduated from Princess Anne High School in 1967. For the past 50+ years she has lived in the Fentress Airfield area of Chesapeake, Va.
She is survived by her husband Tommy, her three children, Amy Young, Jason Young (Jamie), and Melinda Helgren (Travis), and a stepson, Alan Young. She adored her five grandchildren: Kaia (21), Ryland (15), Vada (10), Ellie (9), and Heidi (6). She is also survived by her siblings Vonnie Janney and Buster Fancher.
She touched the lives of everyone she met and will be greatly missed. She worked hard and played hard, but was a soft-hearted momma and grandma. She will be missed but never forgotten.
