Peggy Dawson Wright, 68, of Toano, passed away on April 1, 2023.
Peggy, a wife to the love of her life, Glenn; mother to her precious children, Chelsea and Josh; and most importantly, Grammy to seven grandchildren, and a sister to seven siblings; was a woman full of life, fun, and happiness.
She was a lifelong gardener; this gave her peace and joy. Reading was her pastime. Detective, talent, History Channel, and survival shows were her interest. She was also a master crafts person her entire life and made funny quirky gifts and memories for her friends and family for every holiday known to mankind. She collected hats for every holiday. When Peggy moved to St. Louis with Wells Fargo, she became enthralled with vintage buttons. Their designs and colors captured her unique craft that she would spend the last 10 years of her life sculpting. She became the Buttonnaire, her small business name. She sold these flower buttons at craft fairs around Williamsburg, delicately arranged in antique salt and pepper shakers.
She and Glenn, with their friends, children, and grandkids, took their boat “Peggy Bell” and then “Almost Wright” onto the James River with a convoy of boats and anchored every weekend for years. When not boating, they took their RV camping in the fall. And then there were the motorcycles when she and Glenn enjoyed their little “Harley Streak”. They always surrounded themselves with a lot of music and knew how to have fun sing-a-longs all evening dancing with all who were with them.
Peggy was loved by all, and the void we have is deep, however, we cherish the laughter and memories that we will hold dear forever.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Glenn Wright. She is survived by her daughter, Chelsea Jones; son, Joshua G. Wright and his wife, Nonnie; grandchildren, Cassidy, Kayla, Jamie, Joshua, Landon, Jordan, and Jewel; and siblings Tom Dawson, Judy Harbin (Tom) , Patti Motley (Art), Charlie Dawson (Sandy) , Nancy Bohannon, Ann Kalin (Jerry), and Pete Dawson (Ruth); and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Bucktrout Funeral Home.
