Mrs. Flossie Roberta Jones Davis, affectionately known as “Mother Davis” or “Miss Flossie,” passed away on March 22, 2023, at the age of 85.
She was an absolute joy, bringing happiness and light wherever she went. She was an esteemed member, treasurer, and licensed missionary of Mt. Hope Apostolic Church of God in Williamsburg, VA. A well-respected retiree of Eastern State Hospital, having served forty-one years in nursing and a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. However, most of all, she was a woman of God. Jesus Christ was the center of her joy. As Proverbs 31:10 says, “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her worth is far above rubies.” Indeed, she was priceless beyond money, silver, or gold. No matter the role she filled — wife, mother, daughter, employee, or church member — she was always a capable, intelligent, dedicated, virtuous, and compassionate woman who loved our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We will honor her memory by leading a life that pleases God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elder Luverta Jones and Missionary Lottie Jones; beloved husband, Richard Lee Davis; her cherished granddaughter, Takarole Brown; and sweet great-grandson, Riley Scantlebury.
She is survived by her daughters, Tabitha Kinard (Robert) and Eletha Davis; granddaughters, Kimberly Brown-Smith, Tanesha Brown, Kristy Odametey (Rod), and Kandace Bond; great-grandchildren, Chrissney, Kirsten, Kendall, Gabby, Alexander, Rilyn, and Sandra; great-great-grandsons, Malachi and Messiah; brother-in-law, Edward Davis; sister-in-law, Gloria Davis; godchildren, David Doyal, Verlisha Byrd, and LaSheryl Smith; foster daughter, Patricia Thomas; foster son, John Bartlett; foster grandson, Montgomery Wills; life-long friends, June Cross, Jane Williams, and Howard Jones; church family; and a host of other relatives and friends.
