William Austin Wright, Jr., “Uncle Bill”, 71, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023, from natural causes in Newport News, VA, where he had resided alongside his family for over 40 years, with his sister, Jessica by his side.
Born in Richmond, VA, Uncle Bill was a graduate of Christopher Newport College, class of 1976, and was the President of the Accounting Club. He was a member of the Varsity Tennis Team. Uncle Bill acquired his CPA license in 1985 and worked for the IRS as an Audit Agent for 6 years prior to opening his own practice. He had been an accountant in the Hidenwood area of Newport News since 1988.
Uncle Bill loved sports and especially playing tennis, football, and basketball. What he enjoyed most was taking his nephew, Carsyn, to CNU football and basketball games and rarely missed a game. His last outing was the CNU playoff game on March 10th; prior to their NCAA National Championship game.
He enjoyed spending time with family, family vacations, knuckle sandwiches, swimming in the pool, the outdoors, crunching numbers, gambling, horse races, and placing a bet.
Uncle Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Austin Wright, Sr. and Helen Marie Payne Wright, as well as his beloved nephew, Trevor Claar. He was the oldest of 3 siblings, whom he leaves behind, Debra Myslinski and Jessica Claar, as well as their children, Michael Myslinski, Matthew Myslinski, Sandra Powell, and Kelsey Claar. His nieces and nephews were his pride and joy and then they gave him “greats”, Carsyn Parrish , Massimo Myslinski , Marco Myslinski and newborn nephew, Khaisyn Claar; 2 brothers-in-laws, Edward Myslinski and John Claar, Jr.; his niece-in-law, Marissa Myslinski, and his closest friend and assistant of 28 years, Sheri Melzer.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
