Robertina Marras age 52 of Virginia Beach, Virginia peacefully passed away March 19, 2023 of glioblastoma brain cancer surrounded by family who loved her dearly.
Rho or Roby as family and friends often referred to her, was full of life and determination. She met life’s challenges head on, knew what she needed to accomplish and didn’t quit till she reached her goals.
Rho spoke very little English when she came to America, but was a quick study and taught herself English. She worked at Dillard’s until she joined the U.S. Naval Reserves for two years then transitioned to active duty where she worked as an aircraft mechanic until she passed away. While working fulltime she also earned her Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University. All her hard work paid off and she was able to soon purchase her own home, that made her feel so proud and safe.
Rho and her husband (Robert Aguilar) have been together 13 years, but married only three short years. They shared Navy careers, and were proud to serve their country. They had plans to travel and split time living in Virginia and Sardinia when Rho retired in two years. Rho lived in the United States but her heart was in Sardinia where she grew up. She flew home every year to see her family and swim in the crystal clear waters of what she referred to as her sea.
Rho will be missed and has touched the hearts of many. She is well loved. She will be cremated and a small private service will be held where she will receive military honors.
Her husband will take her ashes back to Sardinia where they will be placed in family columbarium niche. Her father Pasquale Marras, brother Quinto Marras and sister Anna Marras preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Robert Aguilar, mother Maria Penna, brother Raimondo Marras, sisters Paola T. Marras, Giovanna M. Marras, Maria T. Marras and her best friends Ellis and Robin Rose.
