On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, Margaret McEnery Saucier beloved wife, and mother of six passed away. She was ninety-three.
Born to Isabelle and Edward McEnery, Margaret graduated from Thornton Academy in Saco, Maine. In 1956 she met the Love of her life Gerald Saucier, LCDR (Retired), with whom she spent fifty-six blissful years before his passing in 2012. Margaret is survived by her six loving children, Karen & Roger Hesch; Patricia & John Flanigan; Anne PaQuette & Joe Lagana; Joan Tyson & Tom Ellmer; Donna Saucier; Guy Saucier & Brandon Harrington; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a dedicated mother who spent her early years active in her children’s schools with PTA and other school activities. She was a member of the Retired Officer’s Wives Club (ROWS) before the club disbanded; holding offices of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer throughout her time as a member. In her early years and into retirement Margaret enjoyed bowling and golf. She also loved to travel and fulfilled her dream of traveling to every state and several countries. Margaret was an avid reader enjoying the works of authors such as Tom Clancy, John Grisham, James Patterson, Nora Roberts, and Danielle Steel to name a few.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Altmeyer Funeral Home 5033 Rouse Drive, in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 6 p.m. Margaret will be interned with Gerald, during a private ceremony for family at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
