Rosa Virginia Crabtree (Vincent Funeral Home)

Rosa Virginia Crabtree, 90, of Charles City, Virginia, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023, peacefully at her residence.

Virginia, as she was known to her friends and family, was born February 26, 1932, in Oakvale, West Virginia, to the late Robert H. and Lillie Mae Terry, the youngest of their four children. At the young age of 13, she took over the responsibilities of keeping house and cooking for her family due to her mother’s blindness, while also excelling in school. She even achieved the distinction of being inducted into the National Honor Society in high school.

Virginia married at the age of 24, and she was the faithful wife of Jesse Homer Crabtree (deceased) for 69 years. Together, they raised their children to love and serve the Lord wholeheartedly, as they lived the example of the Christian life before them. Virginia also taught Sunday School and sang in the church for many years. She and her husband served their community by delivering for Meals on Wheels, and they visited funeral homes and jails to minister well into their 80’s.

One of Virginia’s favorite things was being outside in the beautiful world God created. Going for a walk or a hike, or a jog when she was younger, was something she truly enjoyed. And, she could jump rope like nobody’s business. She was also an incredible cook and hostess, who enjoyed opening her home for gatherings, large or small, of friends and family.

Mrs. Crabtree was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, Timothy H. Crabtree (Wendy) of Highland Springs, Virginia, her daughter, Mavis Jefferson (Donald) of Highland Springs, Virginia, her son, Randall O. Crabtree (Debi) of Charles City, Virginia, her son, James Mark Crabtree (Janice) of Henrico, Virginia, and her son, Lorne G. Crabtree (Teri) of Fitzgerald, Georgia; 15 grandchildren; and 22 ½ great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Homer Crabtree, a son, Alan Clelle Crabtree, two brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the West Point Church of God, 500 Main Street, West Point, Virginia, with Rev. Lorne Crabtree and Rev. Wayne Groome officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will follow the service at Washington Memorial Park in Sandston, Virginia at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Point Church of God, P. O. Box 1420, West Point, VA 23181 in honor of Mrs. Crabtree.
