Amanda Lee Kohler was born in Plaquemine, Louisiana to William Crutcher Lee Jr. and Mary Amanda Fallon. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Arthur J Kohler, five children, Arthur J. Kohler Jr. and Karen, of Haymarket, Virginia, William Lee Kohler of New Orleans, Louisiana, Thomas Ward Kohler and Kandace of Shawnee, Kansas, Kathryn Amanda Kohler of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Karen Kohler and Sean Fitzgerald of Dallas, Texas, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She attended Plaquemine High School and Louisiana State University, graduating in 1957 with a degree in Secondary Education. She taught high school for several years before dedicating her life to being a homemaker managing a family of five children. She subsequently received a degree from San Jacinto College in Interior Design in 1983 and worked as a designer until her retirement in 1997.
Amanda and Art relocated from Texas to Williamsburg, Virginia and lived in the Governor’s Land Community where she spent her time gardening, being a member of the local Herb Society, the Governor’s Land Garden Club, and charity work with the BV chapter of PEO. She was a member of the Saint Bede Catholic Church.
