Ingeborg “Inge” Nanez, 82, of Williamsburg

Ingeborg “Inge” Nanez (Whiting’s Funeral Home)

Ingeborg Ilse Schafer, affectionately known as “Inge”, was born on 19 June 1939, in Hamelburg, Germany.

Inge immigrated to the US after marrying Army Sergeant Peter Nanez and settled into the role of wife and mother to Claudio and Peter Jr. After relocating many times, as military families do, Inge made Alexandria, VA her home after she accepted the role of office manager for R&B Homes. She remained there for many years until retiring to Williamsburg, VA in 2012. She could often be seen about town with Teddy Bear, her canine companion, by her side.

Inge will forever be remembered as happy, energetic, enthusiastic, and lively. She thought of herself as a free spirit and every day was the start of a new beginning. We pray her spirit is soaring right now. We will always remember her exquisite banquets for family and friends at home and at her place of business. Food was her language of love and she knew how to boost morale with a wonderful meal.

To our beloved Inge; your family and friends will miss you terribly; however, we will remember you with joy as that is what you would have wanted. Your light will forever burn in our hearts.

Inge is survived by her sons, Claudio and Peter; grandson, Austin; and many friends who became family along the journey.

A viewing and gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 18. 2022, at Whiting’s Funeral Home.  Facial coverings are required.  In lieu of flowers, your presence, prayers, and love are all the gifts we require.

Professional services entrusted to the staff of Whiting’s Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185. 757-229-3011 whitingsfuneralhome.com
