QUINTON — Mrs. Willie Mae Touray 73, of Quinton, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 18, 2021. She was the beloved daughter of the late William Henry Taylor and Rosie Mae Davis Taylor.
Mrs. Touray was born in Elko, GA on May 5, 1948. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of nine and along with her father, was baptized at New Bethel Baptist Church in Unadilla, GA.
Mrs. Touray met and married her soulmate Abdoul Rahman Touray Sr. on January 22, 1973. To this union, three children were born: Suffian, Saffie, and Abdoul Jr.
Mrs. Touray was the head chef at EVMS-Hofheimer Hall for 13 years before retiring due to illness. Everyone loved her downhome cooking and people traveled near or far to enjoy her meals made with love.
In her spare time, Mrs. Touray loved spending time with her family, spoiling her grandchildren, antique shopping, reading, and of course cooking. She loved hosting dinner parties and preparing her Southern Cuisines.
Mrs. Touray had a special bond with her daughter, Saffie Touray-Roane who was her caregiver for over 23 years. Mother and daughter did everything together from traveling to donating their time and resources to those in need.
Mrs. Touray was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Abdoul Rahman Touray, Sr., her parents, William Henry Taylor and Rosie Mae Taylor, her brothers, Willie James Taylor, William Henry Taylor II, and her sisters, Linda Mae Taylor, and Mary Ella Robertson.
Mrs. Touray was also the proud and doting “Granny” of two beautiful grandchildren, Jacob “Brendan” Roane, and Jacquelynn “Olivia” Roane, both of Quinton, VA and two spoiled grand fur babies, Abigail and Charlie.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Saffie Touray-Roane (David Hancock) of Quinton, VA; sons, Suffian Touray of Quinton, VA, and Abdoul Rahman Touray Jr. of Bellevue, NE. Sisters, Oria Mae LeGree of Tampa, FL, and Gussie Mae Yeldell of Augusta, GA. Brothers, Ernest Taylor of Columbus, OH, and Richard Taylor of Elko, GA. Brother-in law, Abu Bakarr Turay of Sierra Leone, West Africa. Sister-in laws, Isatu Turay, Ya-Saffie Turay, Ya-Adama, all of Port Loko, Sierra Leone, and Fatu Kabia of Conakry, Guinean. Aunts: Mary Ann Murray of Miami, FL, Gussie Mae Brown of Damascus, GA, and Lorene Davis of Macon, GA., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 am on November 27, 2021 at Vincent Funeral Home in Providence Forge, VA. A repast will follow immediately after at the home of Saffie Touray-Roane in Quinton, VA.
