Forrest Edward ‘Hatchett’ Jones, 63, enjoyed a career in hospitality

Forrest Edward “Hatchett” Jones, 63, was born July 3, 1955, in Charles City, to the late Luther and Jessie Jones. He quietly departed this life Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Riverside Doctors’ Hospital Williamsburg.

Forrest received his formal education in Ruthville Public Schools. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Liberty Baptist Church.

To know Forrest, was to love him. His warm, welcoming spirit made him a joy to be around. Needless to say, he was always the life of the party with that charming smile of his.

Forrest worked for the Williamsburg Hospitality House for over 10 years, and then later for the Westpark Hotel for over 20 years until his health began to fail.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Bernice Wallace (Robert), Margaret Jean Jones and Joann Jones. He leaves to cherish his memories with one son, Dwayne Ellis; two brothers, Wilbert L. Jones (Flossie) and Willie R. Jones (Sylvia); sister, Frances P. Jones; special friend, Jackie Ellis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many caring friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, May 23, at the funeral home with burial following in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Charles City.
