James Kevin Greer died Sunday, March 13, 2016. He was born October 20, 1930, in Edgewater, N.J, and had been a resident of Virginia Beach for 63 years.
Jim graduated from Dwight Morrow High School and Iona College, and then served in the Army’s First Division. A long career in information technology and computer systems began with Litton Industries, continued with Virginia National Bank, and after many mergers, ended with retirement from Bank of America.
Jim enjoyed traveling, reading, watching HGTV, and was an accomplished woodworker; but most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Louise; daughters, Margaret G. Shurtz (Ronald) and Susan G. Morrison (Robert); and sons, James K. Greer Jr. (Cheri), David A. Greer and Neil A. Greer (Charlotte). He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Emily McDaniel (Matthew), Megan Poole (Harrison), James K. Greer III, Mallory Shurtz, Kerry Morrison, Lauren Avelichev (Igor), Colin Morrison, Amrei Greer, Zoe Greer, Liam Greer and Stephanie Porter (Beacher).
A private memorial service will be held in the Albert G. Horton Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
