Ruby Arlene Shepperd Crump, of Williamsburg, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, in Louisa. She was 83.
At an early age she joined Chickahominy Baptist Church in Toano. She graduated from Bruton Heights School in Williamsburg, class of 1947 and was employed with Williamsburg Pottery for many years.
She was born Aug. 17, 1930, the first child of Floyd Simpson Shepperd and John Shepperd, Sr. of James City County. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Crump, Sr.; sons, James Crump, Jr. and Ronald Crump, Sr.; two sisters; and three brothers.
Her memories will always be cherished by her sons, Floyd Crump, of Seattle and Troy Crump (Ingrid), of Louisa; daughter-in-law, Barbara Crump, of Forestville, Md; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Julia Mcclester, of Laurel, Ms., Patricia Brown, of Hampton and VJ Roberts (Edward), of Clarksville, Tenn.; brother, Orrin Shepperd (Norma), of Newport News; step-mother, Mattie Shepperd Trower, of Charles City; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Whiting’s Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, VA 23185. (757) 229-3011.
