Master Sergeant Gordon Leaf, USAF (Ret), 86, served in the U.S. Army and British Merchant Marines

Master Sergeant Gordon Leaf, USAF (Ret), a York County resident since 1994, died Jan. 29, 2014, at the age of 86.

He was born Dec. 8, 1927 in Detroit and returned with his parents to Leeds, Yorkshire, England in 1932 where he was raised and educated. He served with the British Merchant Marines in WWII and returned to the United States in 1951 to enlist in the U.S. Air Force, retiring at RAF Woodbridge, England in 1976.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary.

He is survived by his three sons and their families, Geoffrey and his wife, Janice and their children, Cynthia and Alex, of York County, David and his wife, Denise and their son, Sean, of Albuquerque, N.M. and Graham and his wife, Hilary and their children, Rebecca and Zach, of Suffolk, England. He is also survived by two brothers, Eddie, of Hamilton, New Zealand and Allen, of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.

A private graveside service will be held at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
