W&M Men’s Tennis Falls in CAA Semifinals

WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary men’s tennis saw its run at the 2024 CAA Championship came to an end at the hands of top seed and No. 52-ranked UNCW on Saturday afternoon at the Mackesy Tennis Center.

In doubles, graduate student Satchel Benn and freshman Oliver Hague continued their dominant play at No. 2. The Tribe (13-10) tandem won their 14th in a row, downing Bek Rasamatov and Andrew Broadstreet, 7-5. They moved to 19-5 overall and 15-4 on line two. UNCW took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.

Graduate students Konstantinos Raptis and Bill Duo as well as Hague jumped to set advantages in their singles matches before they were abandoned with the match decided. Raptis (No. 2) and Duo (No. 4) both won first set tiebreakers over Rasamatov and Gabriel Hurtado, respectively, by matching 7-6 (5) scores. Duo was on the verge of taking a 3-1 advantage in set two when his match was called.

At No. 3, Hague claimed the opening set 7-5 over Seahawk senior Reece Falck. The second set was even at three when the match was abandoned. Hague finished his rookie season with a team-best 24 singles wins, which ranks eighth all-time among W&M rookies.

UNCW (16-5) won at the No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 positions to advance to the CAA Championship match.
