W&M Women’s Gymnastics Announces Newcomers for 2024-25

WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary Women’s Gymnastics Head Coach Kelsey Hinton has announced three newcomers to the program for the 2024-25 academic year. The talented incoming freshman class features Melissa Gao, Ashley Ruedy and Sally Wood.

“This class is talented and we are fortunate to have them join the Tribe,” Hinton said. “Our 2024 season was a true testament of strength, grit, and consistency. I can’t wait for these three student-athletes to be a part of our continued success. I am excited for this new chapter of continued growth as we enter the 2024-2025 school year! It should be another fun year full of excitement! Get ready, Tribe fans!”

Paoli, Pa. (Conestoga High School)
AJS Pancott Gymnastics

Prep: Competed for AJS Pancott Gymnastics … 2023 Developmental Program National Qualifier … 2021 Eastern National Qualifier … Member of the National Honor Society … Distinguished Honor Roll … Personal: Daughter of Long Long Gao and Zhe Ren … Enjoys traveling, reading, listening to music and hanging out with friends.

Ashley Ruedy
Simi Valley, Calif. (Simi Valley High School)
Gymnastics Olympica

Prep: Competed for Gymnastics Olympica … Level 10 National Qualifier (alternate) in 2023 … Level 9 Western Qualifier (alternate) in 2019 … Level 8 Regional Champion in all-around (2018) … Level 7 State Champion in all-around (2017) … Personal: Daughter of Brent and Shari Ruedy … Father played baseball collegiately at UC Davis … Member of the National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation and Girl Scouts … Let’s Go Help community service team founder/leader … Served as a writing lab tutor and SVHS tutor … Enjoys camping, boating, going to the beach, reading, baking/cooking and country music.
