W&M Men’s Tennis Drops Opening Match of ECAC Championship to Yale

PHILADELPHIA — William & Mary men’s tennis suffered a 4-0 setback to Yale in the opening round of the ECAC Championship at the Hecht Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • Graduate student Satchel Benn and freshman Oliver Hague gave W&M the early lead in doubles with a victory on line two. The Tribe tandem topped Yale’s Eric Li and Jim Ji, 6-4, to improve to 6-5 overall with its second win at No. 2.
  • Yale rallied to take the initial point of the match with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
  • The Bulldogs pulled down the team triumph and advanced to the semifinals with wins a three of the top four singles positions.
  • Graduate student Konstantinos Raptis (at No. 3) and sophomore Albert Hansen (at No. 5) rallied after dropping the first set in singles to take break advantages in their second sets before the matches were abandoned with the team result decided.
