The Tribe athletics department is proud to announce that 2015 Women’s World Cup Champion Coach Jill Ellis ‘88 will be returning to William & Mary for Family Weekend on next week.

Ellis will be on hand at both the Tribe women’s soccer match against Hofstra on Friday (at Martin Family Stadium at Albert/Daly Field) and the football game against Stony Brook on Saturday.

At both contests she will be honored at halftime, additionally she will briefly address the crowd at the women’s soccer match.

Fans and students will both have opportunities to enter drawings for a chance to win a meet-and-greet prior to the match on Friday night. Fans who purchase tickets before 5 p.m. Wednesday will be automatically entered into the contest. Five winners will be selected and be given the opportunity to be accompanied by a guest and be a part of a special meet-and-greet with Ellis, prior to the match.

Originally from Portsmouth, England, Ellis played forward for the Tribe from 1984-87, and recently led the U.S. to its first World Cup title since 1999. She finished her Tribe career with 32 goals, 19 assists, and ranks ninth in career points with 83, while earning Third Team All-America honors during her senior season.

She helped the Tribe to the NCAA tournament all four seasons, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 1987. Ellis earned her degree from William & Mary in English literature and composition.

Tickets to both contests can be purchased online at or by clicking here for the women’s soccer match, or here for the football game. Tickets can also be purchased by visiting the Tribe Ticket Office in William & Mary Hall or by calling 221-3340.
