Williamsburg Christian Academy’s Will Gibson and Luke Pfeifer were both named to the Virginia Independent Schools Division 2 boys soccer all-state second team that was released Tuesday.
Gibson, who is considering an offer to play for University of Mary Washington next year, finished the season with three goals and six assists despite spending much of the season on the Eagles’ back line. He highlighted WCA’s formidable defensive unit that allowed only eight goals in 21 games.
When opponents did penetrate past the Eagles’ back line, Pfeifer, who plans on attending and playing for Christopher Newport University next fall, was one of the toughest keepers to score on in the state. In addition to yielding eight goals all season, the senior goalkeeper also posted 14 shutouts.
Co-captains on the field, Gibson and Pfeifer, who were also voted to the all-Metro Conference team, are just as efficient in the classroom with identical 4.2 grade point averages.
