NATIONWIDE — Work is still underway on the 2020 census, and federal data shows how many temporary workers have been a part of the effort.

The United States is broken down into six Census Bureau Regions, and Virginia is a part of the Philadelphia Region.

132 temporary workers earned pay in the Philadelphia region during the weekly pay period of Sept. 5-11, according to a press release from the U.S. Census Bureau. That figure is down from 167 the prior week, Aug. 29 – Sept. 4.

The 2020 peak week for temporary workers in the region was July 11-17, when 649 temporary workers were employed by the Census Bureau. That pay period was also the week that saw the highest total number of temporary workers nationwide.

In the week of Aug. 9-15, 2020, more than 288,000 thousand temporary workers worked on the census, which eclipsed all other weeks for which data was provided. 44,527 of those workers were in the Philadelphia region during that pay period.

In addition to Virginia, the Philadelphia Region includes Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio and the District of Columbia.
