Virginia Commission for the Arts to Award $5,000 Poetry Fellowships

STATEWIDE — The Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) announced the opening of its 2021-2022 Artist Fellowship Program to recognize and support Virginia artists.

This year’s fellowship program highlights literary arts – poetry. Five Artist Fellowships are available in the amount of $5,000 and will be awarded by the Commission.

All eligible Virginia-based poets are encouraged to apply.

The application deadline is Friday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m.

Eligible applicants must be artists who are 18 years are older, are legal residents of Virginia and plan to remain Virginia residents during the grant period. Applicants may receive only one fellowship from the Commission within a four-year period.

After the application deadline has passed, applications are reviewed by an advisory panel of professionals in the specific discipline. The board of Commission will make the final decision on all applicants.

The fellowship payments will be made to the artists by January 15, 2022.
