JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS — Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE) has announced that it will hold an active shooter drill on Thursday, June 24.

The drill is expected to take place on the Langley section of the joint command base. In a June 22 release, JBLE stated that the purpose of this exercise is to evaluate safety precautions, defender response, unit lockdown plans, checklists, and standard operating procedures should an active shooter situation occur.

The times in which the exercise will take place have not been announced. It is expected to impact base entry points as well as customer service facilities during its duration.

Base residents should expect to hear announcements over the ‘Giant Voice’ notification system.

Both residents and visitors are asked to plan accordingly for the exercise.

JBLE has stated that there is no indication of a change in the base’s threat environment.
