HAMPTON ROADS — On Wednesday, May 12, Peninsula Community Foundation (PCF) announced record-breaking results for its annual Give Local 757! campaign.
On Tuesday, May 11, PCF held its annual day of philanthropy to encourage residents to support local nonprofit organizations. Like last year, this year’s celebration was held virtually.
Due to the challenges that these organizations faced particularly over the last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, PCF recognized the amplified need to raise funds so that these organizations could continue their work.
After the day came to an end, PCF reported that 10,165 donors donated $1,712,358 to support 218 local nonprofits that represent every city in the region.

The first place grand prize winner was 20 Pearls Foundation, which supports educational and cultural activities as well as provide scholarships. The foundation received 800 donations.
Vanguard Landing raised the highest dollar amount, receiving a record-breaking total of $149,706. This nonprofit organization was founded in 2010 with the goal to provide safe, progressive and self-sustaining community for adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.
“Everything about this year has been different — everything but the generosity of Hampton Roads’ citizens and we thank every donor for their meaningful contributions,” said Tammy Flynn, director of philanthropy for PCF.
This year’s fundraising exceeded prior giving days. The first Give Local 757 took place in 2014, when it raised $190,000. Since then, Give Local 757 has raised a total of $7,034,204 from almost 70,000 gifts for hundreds of local causes.

“In our eighth year hosting the event, the impact that yesterday will have on nonprofits within our communities will be substantial and long lasting, and we are proud to rally behind those making a difference,” said PCF CEO Michael Monteith.
Give Local 757 is the region’s largest philanthropic event each year. It encourages residents to come together in order to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors.
Participating nonprofits support causes such as animal welfare, the arts, education, human services, housing, and more. The giving day also gives these nonprofit organizations the opportunity for much-needed exposure of the work they do throughout the region. Additionally, several companies stepped in to match contributions that were made. A full list can be found by clicking here.
