Author to give talk on new pirate book

HAMPTON — On Monday, May 3, author Jeremy R. Moss will give a presentation at Hampton History Museum on his book, The Life and Tryals of the Gentleman Pirate, Major Stede Bonnet.

The talk will cover the history of the Golden Age of Piracy (from 1650-1730). Mr. Moss will help paint a picture of this time period by discussing famous pirates (including Blackbeard), dispel some of the myths about piracy, discuss political intrigues and angles, daily life, social issues, bloody battles, and buried treasure.

Jeremy R. Moss, a native of Chesapeake, is a lawyer and lobbyist living in Alexandria. He is also an emerging author and freelance historian, focusing his work on piracy and early colonial maritime history.

The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. via Facebook Live on Hampton History Museum’s page.
