The Newport News Shipbuilding division of Huntington Ingalls Industries launched the Virginia-Class Submarine Delaware (SSN 791) into the water last Wednesday.
More than 10,000 shipbuilders have worked on the Delaware since 2013.

According to the NNS announcement, it took three days to move the 7,800-ton submarine from the construction site into the James River.
The submarine was christened by Jill Biden, the ship’s sponsor on Oct. 19 and will be delivered to the Navy next year.
