School district hosts first opioid awareness event for families

HAMPTON — The city’s schools district will host a free event about drug use and opioid addiction at the Jones Magnet Middle School Tuesday.

The event is for HCS families only and RSVP is not required.

According to HCS, the event provides educational resources for families, such as signs of drug abuse, the opportunity to speak with several representatives from the Hampton-Newport News Community Service Board.

The event also features a local documentary about opioid addiction.

The Hampton City Schools’ Opioid Awareness Night is at the Jones Magnet Middle School, 1819 Nickerson Blvd. on Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
