Roadside leaf collection starts soon and this city wants you to know the rules

NEWPORT NEWS- The city’s Public Works’ Street Maintenance Division annual roadside leaf collection starts later this month.

Leaves mixed with twigs and branches will not be collected.

According to the city’s announcement, residents can place leaves roadside avoiding blocking traffic, gutters, drains, water meters and utility boxes a week prior to their collection date. View the collection schedule here.

The city’s annual Roadside Loose Leaf Collection Program starts Nov. 26 and ends on Jan. 7.

Leaf burning is not permitted.
