Local church to host free Thanksgiving dinner this week

NEWPORT NEWS — The Ivy Baptist Church is having its annual thanksgiving community dinner at Heritage High School Wednesday.

The event (4-7 p.m.) is free and open to the public. Heritage High School is at 5800 Marshall Ave.

The community dinner features a family-style atmosphere with community services, kid-friendly activities, vendors and entertainment, according to event’s Facebook page

The event is sponsored by the city’s police department, Heritage High School, Huntington Middle School and John Eley III, Newport News Public Schools board member for the South District, according to the church flyer.
