NEWPORT NEWS — Police here said a former public school substitute teacher was arrested Friday in connection with a child pornography case.
The police department’s Special Victims Unit on Friday executed a search warrant for the home of 50-year-old Michael Scott Porter in Newport News and found child pornography, authorities said.
Porter was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of child pornography.
Porter, a former substitute teacher for Newport News Public Schools, was also involved in the public school’s Mid-Atlantic Teen Challenge, police said.
He is being held in the Newport News Jail without bond, according to the jail’s online booking sheet.
