Grocery chain to open new store in Hampton

HAMPTON —  Harris Teeter is opening its first store location in here early next year.

The grocery store chain recently announced a partnership with BP and Amoco gas stations and opened several fuel stations at select store locations, including Quarterpath Crossing in Williamsburg and Sandbridge Commons in Virginia Beach.

Customers can now buy gas at a discounted price and earn redeemable fuel points, according to the company’s news release. Use the Fuel Station locator to find participating gas stations near you.

In March, Harris Teeter acquired 10 Hampton Roads Farm Fresh stores from SUPERVALU, five in Virginia Beach, two in Norfolk, and one store in each of the following locations: Suffolk, Williamsburg and Hampton.

The new Hampton store is at the previous Farm Fresh store location at 227 Fox Hill Rd. A01, and while it is not clear what specific amenities will be at the new store, there will definitely be a gas station.

“We are opening the fuel station at the Hampton store, and our teams are always evaluating opportunities for future fuel sites,” Danna Robinson, communications manager for Harris Teeter, wrote in an email.”We are still finalizing our plans and do not have details to share on amenities.”
