Looking for something to do this weekend? Check out the ARRRtober festival

NEWPORT NEWS — The Mariner’s Museum and Park will host its first ARRRtober Festival this Sunday at Harvey Field.

The family-friendly event includes pirate storytelling, hay rides, pumpkin painting, a pirate costume contest and other activities, according the museum’s news release.

In addition, there will be craft beer, cider and wine from businesses like Oozlefinch Brewery, Sly Clyde Ciderworks and the James River Winery available for purchase and several food trucks like Stuft and Smoke BBQ, according to the news release.

People who buy tasting tickets in advance get a souvenir glass and free admission into the festival, according to the event’s Facebook page.

The 2018 ARRRtober Festival: Trails, Ales and Pirate Tales will be at the Mariner’s Museum and Park, 100 Museum Drive,  1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $2 and children 3 years old and younger are free.
