NEWPORT NEWS — Construction on a project in the Richneck Area to improve stormwater quality and alleviate flooding issues is set to begin in January.
With that start date fast approaching, staff from the Department of Engineering will be at the Denbigh Community Center (15198 Warwick Blvd.) Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to answer questions and take comments from residents about the project.
The Richneck Area Regional Water Quality and Flood Control BMP project includes the construction of three stormwater management basins between Richneck Road and Melrose Terrace, approximately 1,000 feet north of Woodside Lane, according to a news release from the city.
To minimize the impact of the project on local streets, access to the site will be provided through an existing 30-foot drainage easement behind 560 Richneck Road. All construction activities will take place on city-owned property, officials said.
More information about the project is available online on the city’s Project Status Report.
If you have questions or are unable to attend the workshop, you can email your comments to Mohammad Shar in the Department of Engineering at mshar@nnva.gov.
