Riverside to give free flu shots in Hampton and Newport News

Riverside Health System will give free flu shots in Hampton, Newport News and other locations starting next Thursday.

According to the CDC, the body doesn’t develop antibodies against the flu until two weeks after receiving the flu vaccine and recommends that everyone, including infants 6 months and older, should get the vaccine this year.

Riverside will administer the flu shots at the locations below while supplies last:

  • Thursday, Oct. 4, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Riverside Wellness & Fitness Center – Peninsula
    12650 Jefferson Ave. in Newport News
  • Thursday, Oct. 18, 8 a.m. to noon
    Riverside Medical Office Building – Hampton
    850 Enterprise Parkway in Hampton
  • Saturday, Nov. 3, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Riverside Regional Medical Center Main Lobby
    500 J. Clyde Morris Blvd. in Newport News

There is no appointment or paperwork needed to receive a flu shot. Only individuals 14 years old and older can receive the flu shot and minors, 18 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

The flu shots are available to the public on a walk-in basis. For a complete list of flu shot clinics and other information, visit the Riverside website or call 757-316-5800.
