NEWPORT NEWS — The city and the Newport News Redevelopment Housing Authority will celebrate King-Lincoln Park’s new boardwalk with a ribbon cutting and concert on Saturday.
The ribbon cutting will be at King-Lincoln Park, 600 Jefferson Ave. at 4 p.m.
The boardwalk, located in the Marshall-Ridley neighborhood in the southeast community of Newport News, was funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Redevelopment Authority as part of the federal government’s choice neighborhood planning grant to “revitalize and transform a portion of the southeast community,” according to its website.
After the ribbon cutting, there will be a concert to celebrate the downtown community with a DJ Moby starting at 5 p.m. The Unifics, an R&B/Soul musical group from Washington, D.C., will also perform.
The event is free and open to the public. For information, visit the Newport News Choice website.
