The following organizations will be open on Monday. This updated list includes schools, city run programs and other facilities open to the public and will operate under normal hours unless otherwise noted.
Newport News
- All city offices
- All public library branches
- All city parks
- All Newport News Public Schools
- Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce
- Solid Waste Collection – resumes Monday, but is delayed one day
- Ferguson Center for the Arts
- Mariner’s Museum and Park – opens Saturday, Sept. 15
- Peninsula Fine Arts Center – opens Saturday, Sept. 15
- Virginia Living Museum– delayed opening Sunday, Sept. 16 at 10 a.m.
- Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter -opened Friday, Sept. 14
- Peninsula SPCA– opened Friday, Sept. 14
At this time, it is unclear if the Newport News Circuit Court, the Newport News Juvenile and Domestic Relations and the Newport News General District Court will be open on Monday.
Hampton
- All city offices
- Starting Saturday the city’s facilities that are normally open on the weekend will be open. This includes libraries and public parks.
- Fort Monroe: The Fort Monroe Authority Main Office and Leasing Office will reopen at 8:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 17. Fort Monroe’s Casemate Museum will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 10:30 a.m. Fort Monroe National Monument daily walking tours will also resume on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m.
- Hampton City Schools: open Monday for classes, all weekend events are still cancelled.
- TNCC Community College and Hampton University will resume classes Monday.
- Thursday/Friday trash pickup will begin Saturday morning but there will be no recycling pick up until next week.
- The following will re-open Monday:
- Ruppert Sergeant Building (Assessor, Commissioner of the Revenue, Economic Development, Procurement, Treasurer)
- Hampton History Museum and Tourist Information Center
- Healthy Families
- Virginia Air and Space Center – closed Saturday. Reopens at noon Sunday.
