Peninsula Fine Arts Center joins nationwide program to help underprivileged families

NEWPORT NEWS — The Peninsula Fine Arts museum announced Tuesday its new membership with Museums for All.

Museums for All is a nationwide program to encourage families to visit museums ‘regularly’ and to “build life-long museum habits,” according to the website.

The initiative is run by the Association of Children Museums, a coalition of childrens museum members, and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a federal agency that provides grants to libraries, museums and other services.

The Museums for All program gives families who receive SNAP food assistance benefits discounted admission to any of its 200-plus-member museums, including the Peninsula Fine Arts Center.

Families can now get $3 tickets for up to four individuals by presenting a photo ID and EBT (SNAP) card at the museum’s admission office during operating hours.

The Peninsula Fine Arts Center is open Tuesday- Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 1 p.m.-5 p.m. The museum is located at 101 Museum Drive, right next to the Mariners’ Museum.

For information, visit the Peninsula Fine Arts Center website or call 757-596-8175. You can also follow the museum on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
