NEWPORT NEWS — The city will be sponsoring a free workshop on learning the signs of suicide in honor of National Suicide Awareness Month (September).
The Newport News Department of Human Services, Youth Services Division, is sponsoring this suicide prevention training.
It will be geared toward teens, parents/guardians and professionals working with youth.
On Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., visit South Morrison Family Education Center to learn how to better recognize the warning signs of suicide and how to get help for family or friends dealing with suicidal thoughts.
A licensed counselor is facilitating the workshop and a few guests will share their personal stories of how they have been affected by suicide.
The workshop is free to attend and the registration is available online.
